The word Longé, from the Patois dialect meaning "reach out", captures the essence of what we strive to accomplish. Longé is a community collaborative committed to "reaching out" to connect individuals through collaborative living, community development and conversation.
Born out of our experience of working with young adults in service and community and our love for the Kalinago community of Dominica, we have founded an organization that serves to increase tangible resources in the Carib Territory. We do this through creating dynamic educational settings for Kalinago and non-Kalinago young adults (with a focus on the arts, service, and leadership development), giving each individual the opportunity to share their unique talents and strengths, and to learn from others with different talents and strengths. Our time spent with young adults of different cultures and backgrounds has taught us that we each have different skills. While these skills are highly individualized, they often are also culturally imparted. To this end, we have created a program that provides the forum for young adults to live and work together, to share their knowledge and ways of doing and being, and to learn from one another.
We offer an Interim/Gap Year Experience, the Summer Leadership Program and our Customized Community-based Excursions for Adult Groups. Each of these programs focuses on cross-cultural relationships. It is these relationships that set our programs apart.
So sit back and explore our site... we are sure you will find something you like!
