Salybia Primary School and School Faculty

Salybia Primary School is the primary school for nearly seventy students from age five to twelve, Kindergarten to Grade 6. Led by their Principal Kathleen Jno-Lewis, the teachers and children of Salybia Primary School are a hardworking, energetic and positive bunch. Salybia Primary is housed in a temporary building on the grounds of the Nazarene Church in Bataca. After years of schooling in a structurally unsound building, the Ministry of Education moved the school to its current temporary location as they await the completion of a permanent campus in St.Cyr.

Students of Salybia are quite lucky! They are taught by a committed and loving group of adults (see picture below). Kathleen's two major goals for the Salybia Primary School are improving the students' reading abilities and involving the parents in the education process. Although the school's literacy rate has vastly improved in the year's prior, Kathleen envisions even more improvement in the school's near future. Kathleen believes that involving parents in the education process can bolster students' learning both at home and at school by creating a community attitude more conducive to learning.
