| Longé responds as well to projects in the Kalinago community identified by the Carib Council, an elected body of seven who serve five-year terms. The Council is presided over by the current Chief Charles Williams. The Carib Council is the administrative and organizational body in the Kalinago community whose mandate is to facilitate and encourage the development of the people and their natural resources. |

The current Carib Council members are: Irvince Auguiste, Christabelle Auguiste, Elvis Francis, Kent Auguiste, Peter Sanford and Derek Joseph.
The Kalinago community retains one member of Parliament, presently the Labor Party representative Kelly Graneau. Mr. Graneau also holds a separate Cabinet seat as Minister of Carib Affairs (the first time in Dominica’s history that the Kalinago people were awarded a separate cabinet position as full minister). Mr. Graneau has spent many years in service to his community. He was a teacher at Salybia Primary School, a Senator in the House of Assembly, founding member of the Waroke Youth Movement, Founding member of the Sineku Development Committee, Chairman of the Banana District Branch, and served five years on Council with Hilary Frederick as Carib Chief.
