CCW Preschool Special Needs School
Special Needs School
The Committee for Concerned Women recognizes a need in the Carib Territory. Children with disabilities are not accommodated for in the schools of Dominica especially in the Carib Territory where you can find the largest amount of disabilities out of the entire island. As a result there are a large amount of Special Needs children who are unable to attend or are rejected from regular schooling. Because of this they are growing up lacking the basic education and life skills which they are fully capable of learning.
The Committee's concern is what will happen to these children when they grow up? They risk leading an unfulfilling life with an unfair lack of opportunity and due to this some may also turn to crime, drugs or other risk behaviors, which can affect the entire community at large. At the moment these children lack equal opportunity. These children deserve the opportunity for an education which the Committee of Concerned Women would like to provide.
Many of the children in the Community are out of school simply because they are hearing or speaking impaired. These children are fully capable of learning. Giving these children an education has been the Committee for Concerned Women's dream for quite awhile. CCW is seeking funding to complete the school which is ninety percent complete. The school is in need of teaching materials, books, pencils/pens, etc. Additionally, they are in need of securing funding to transport the students to school. The current bus system in the Community cannot accommodate children in wheelchairs.
Individuals interested in donating specifically to CCW can make note on their donation and Longé will ensure your donations reach CCW directly.
